The first "epilepsy VNS" treatment in Eskişehir City Hospital

It was reported that epilepsy surgery, also called "epilepsy pili", was performed for the first time in Eskişehir City Hospital.

In the statement made by Health & More, it was stated that epilepsy, which is known as "epilepsy disease" among the people, is an important disease that significantly reduces the quality of daily life and needs to be treated.

In the statement, it was stated that many antiepileptic drugs are used in the treatment of the disease, but surgical treatment is on the agenda in those who have frequent seizures and are diagnosed with resistant epilepsy despite multi-drug therapy.

"A 28-year-old male patient who applied to our clinic was diagnosed with resistant epilepsy because he had seizures since he was 4 years old and his seizures continued despite multiple drug therapy. He was evaluated by our neurosurgeon, neurology and psychiatry specialists and planned to insert an epilepsy pacemaker (VNS). The patient was diagnosed with resistant epilepsy. Epilepsy pacemaker surgery was successfully performed in Eskişehir City Hospital with an operation that lasted for approximately 1.5 hours. The patient was mobilized 1 day after the operation and the patient was discharged on the 3rd day with a good general condition. It was applied for the first time by Opr. Dr. Mehmet Beşir Sürme and his neurosurgery team.”
